Anamaria is an Romanian actress. Her debut on screen was with her role in the Channel 4 film Sex Traffic for which she won the British Academy Television Award for the Best actress. The actress fluently speaks French, German and English. Her father is a theater teacher at one of the country's most prestigious acting schools. The award was presented to her as the Best Female Actor of the Year 2000 Award at the Young Actor Gala Mangalia. In 2008, the European Film Promotion Board recognized her as a European Shooting Star. Alongside her impressive performance in her maiden film the actress is also remembered for role in the Romanian art film 4 months 3 weeks as well as 2 Days which won her numerous awards, including an award from the European Film Award for Best Actress London Film Critics. She starred in the Romanian film 4 luni 3 weeks si 2 days (4 months, 3 weeks and 2 Days) directed by Cristian Mungiu. The film was awarded the Palme d'Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and two additional awards (the Cinema Prize of the French National Education System and the FIPRESCI prize). She also appeared as a character in the Francis Ford Coppola film Youth Without Youth. The film was released in 2008. She starred as Yasim Angwar, the BBC miniseries of five episodes The Last Enemy. Marinca played the role in the Romanian drama Boogie and in Oliver Hirschbiegel's critically popular Five Minutes of Heaven. Then she played the role of Irma's German aunt in Fury the film, which came out in 2014.
